When I got this I had no real expectations but it turns out I dig this little tool the most! Gonna get another.OK, maybe I'm asking too much, but first: this is a very good tool for cleaning electric guitars. I hang mine on the wall or put them in racks, and they will, of course, collect dust - but at least they're easy to grab and play, and I don't have cases lying around all over the place. This tool is good for dusting larger areas, and the small brush will certainly get the dust off pickups. But what about cramped spaces, like the gap between the bridge pickup and the bridge, or the bridge and the tailpiece? Those are a no-go here, although appropriate tiny dusters are available. Still, a good start, if a bit pricy - but, then, what isn't these days?Good stuff. I was really getting tired of maiming my fingers trying to jam a microfiber cloth under the strings in vain. There's always still some dust immediately around raised features like pickups, bridges, frets, and for the love of god, the tuners. Air dusters usually do the trick but they don't last half as long as you'd expect, especially since once they're a little past halfway empty, they don't have the pressure you need to blast the dust away. I go through like four or five a month.Unfortunately, I still need the air dusters. This thing has extended the life-expectancy of the air dusters that I use for sure, but there are still some spots that are too tight to fit this thing. It's excellent for my acoustics, no pickups to get in the way. Similar story for my semi-hollow, it's obviously got pickups but there's a gap under the bridge that I can use to dust off the area behind the bridge pickup that I'd otherwise have no way to reach. For the rest of my guitars though, that area is still unreachable. The headstock is still a nightmare for almost all of my guitars. I've only got one guitar that has all of its tuners situated on one side of the headstock, the rest of them are just too crowded to fit this thing in there. I've had some limited success with the soft brush on the bottom, it works better on the headstocks than it does around the bridge/pickups. Seems like the strings are raised JUST enough to keep me from reaching the body with enough of the brush to get rid of the dust. Even with the headstock, you have get creative to brush away the dust. It always seems like there's a thin layer of dust that just isn't having it and can't be brushed away lol. Finally, the flat bit is thicker than you might expect. Not a lot, not by any means, but if you're brushing off the frets you'll notice a lot of resistance when you try to get it over that last fret. It's possible for sure, but it feels a bit rough on the brush thing and I can't help but wonder how long it'll be before it starts coming apart. Until it does, if it does, I'm saving like $20 a month on air dusters lol. If it lasts more than a few months, I've got no issue with spending another $8 replacing it until a better alternative hits the shelves.Edit: Paint brush. I just got myself a paint brush and now I feel like an idiot. Been playing for nearly two decades and this only occurred to me a couple of hours ago.... lol.Cleans the surface pretty well. This isn't going to deep clean. It can get dust and other skin particles off your strings. It's good at removing dust and pet hair from my head stock and bridge etc and helping get in-between cracks. It seems soft enough that it won't scratch my instrument.I was looking for something like this for a long time! This tool is great to use when you want to clean the wood surface underneath the strings close to the bridge, AND at the headstock. The brush is also very soft and allows to clean hard to reach places, like close to switches, electronics, the nut, the bridge, etc. The flat side of the tool might be a bit too thick to actually use it between the strings and the fretboard, but you can still use it above the strings and press it a bit. For a quick removal of dust you can also use the brush for this. I believe it's a must for every guitarist.Got this after a very dusty trip, It's got in all the little spaces in our guitars with ease. Love Love Love this!!!!For the simple reason this tool failed where I needed most-to clean the bottom of my strings. It is too thick for my Stratocaster, the action is too low to go beyond the first three or four frets from the very bottom. I solved the problem using a microfiber cloth, which I can easily move around. This tool is also extremely useful for every other part of your guitar. It’s body, sides, around the bridge, between pickups if you have an electric one and more. And, of course, to clean the upside of your strings. If it could fit between the strings and the neck, it would have been simply fantastic! This thing is great for cleaning dust in tight spots like under bridges, between pickups, and under the strings on the peghead, but there is no way you can clean the underside of the strings like they show all the way from the bridge to the nut. On any guitar or bass that is setup anywhere nearly correctly you will not be able to bring it past about the 2nd or 3rd fret with string tension, and if you do you risk pulling the strings out of the nut slots, but given that if your strings are really nasty enough to warrant cleaning around there, it's probably time for new strings, that is very forgivable. I keep one of these in the case of my nicer guitars with a microfiber cloth for general TLC and there's pretty much nowhere that you can't clean. However in some acoustic guitar cases I have noticed that it is a very tight fit in the compartment. It does the job and I'm happy with that. Buuuut I suspect it's entirely overpriced for what it actually is. When I got it I then wondered why I hadn't gone to Wilko's and bought a cheap makeup brush, a microfibre cloth and a cooking spatula and made my own fretboard-cleaning widget for under a fiver. Just a thought...Good concept but the cleaning cloth bit fell off after 10 string cleans and it doesn’t clean all the way down the neck because it is too thick. Better off using a cloth.Great bit of kit, only downside is the price, bit expensive for what it is in raw materials but I guess you're paying for the design. Works really well on my satin finish guitar along with their detailer spray, only downside of the design is it struggles getting under the strings on the neck but I have quite a low action and tense strings so I'm not gonna mark them down for that... I recommend! This thing is actually quite good. Yes, it's expensive, and there are cheaper ways of cleaning a guitar. Personally I have a black Les Paul and the dust behind the pick ups really irritates me. This cleans those awkward areas easily. It also cleans around the edge of the guitar well. I would give it 5 stars if it wasn't for the price.A bit expensive but excellent tool for cleaning the guitar including those hard to reach parts around the machine heads and bridge parts. It would make a great gift for a guitarist too.
